It is one special excavator consists of a straddle carrier and one upper part of the excavator or one whole excavator. The excavator upper part or the whole excavator is elevated by the straddle carrier which makes it coulld working over the wagons. It has similar working principle of wagon unloader except that it has no material conveyor system. That is why it is the most cost-saving unloading system among these three systems because of the simple structure design. Without workplace requirement and conveyor system, it has much more flexibility and mobility compared with wagon tippler and wagon loader. Of course, the cost is a loss of working efficiency. In order to compensate for its disadvantages, excavators have also been fitted with specially designed 1.6 m3 heavy-duty buckets and 2.5 m3 coal buckets which could maximize a railway wagons unloading speed. Thereafter, the cargo is dumped in a stockpiling area or directly into a truck box. It is worth mentioning that even though its work efficiency is the lowest among the three, but it perform best on cost-saving and flexibility, which is enough to make up for its shortcomings.
