360 degree rotation - positions the bucket anywhere around its own axis without swinging the machine. On a rail formation where the excavator sits on the track and cannot simply drive to a better spot, this converts an impossible reach into a routine one.

45 degree tilt - matches the cutting edge to the slope of the ballast shoulder. This is the function that actually forms the profile. Rotation gets the bucket there; tilt is what shapes the material once it arrives.

The practical result is single-pass shoulder forming. Instead of roughing the slope, repositioning, correcting and finishing by hand, the operator holds one angle and works along the formation. Flat Bottom or Grid Bottom: Choose by Task, Not by Preference

Flat bottom - retains all material. Use it for ballast backfilling, moving and placing aggregate, and forming the shoulder profile where the objective is to deliver and shape a full volume of material.

Grid bottom - separates as it works. Fines, soil and fouled material fall through the grid while clean ballast is retained. Use it where the job is to recover and reuse serviceable ballast rather than simply relocate everything on site.

The commercial point is straightforward: a grid bottom turns spoil into reusable material. On projects where clean ballast has to be imported, separating on the spot instead of hauling everything away and buying replacement aggregate changes the cost structure of the work.
