The Hydraulic grapple saw

May 4, 2026

The grapple saw is a hydraulic engineering machinery attachment that integrates clamping and cutting functions. It is typically compatible with 6-20 ton excavators and is widely used in forestry logging, landscaping maintenance, and land reclamation, making it a highly efficient logging and timber processing device.

It mainly consists of high-strength grapple, a hydraulic sawing device, and a 360° swivel joint. Fully hydraulically driven, it relies on the main unit's hydraulic system for power, requiring no external power source. During operation, the grapple firmly hold the trunk or log, preventing it from tipping or splitting during cutting. The hydraulically driven chain saw or circular saw cuts at high speed, and the swivel joint allows for flexible angle adjustment, completing the entire process of clamping, positioning, cutting, and transport in one operation.

The grapple saw is made of high-strength wear-resistant steel, with saw blades inlaid with carbide tips. Some models include an automatic lubrication system, ensuring high durability. Its maximum cutting diameter can reach 300-800mm, and the grapple opening is 1250-1350mm, adaptable to timber of varying thicknesses. Compared to traditional manual logging, it increases efficiency by over 40%, processing up to 100 tons of timber per day with clean cuts and reduced material loss.

Furthermore, the grapple saw features multiple safety features: the grapple and sawing system are interlocked, and it is equipped with a protective cover and emergency braking device, ensuring safe and reliable operation. This multi-functional machine can perform logging, pruning, debranching, and loading/unloading operations, significantly reducing labor and equipment costs, making it an ideal piece of equipment for modern forestry and municipal engineering.
